When I see a great building, all my senses start tingling. Last week I managed to get some shots of the fairly new Blue Mountains Cultural Centre in Katoomba. It’s got some nice curves and the view at the back is spectacular on a good day.
It’s also got some great eco friendly building points, recycling all the rainwater from the roof… and storing it in a 50000 litre underground tank. There’s other smart stuff, like insulation and solar too. You can read about them on the centre’s website.
There’s a couple of art exhibitions on at the moment. The NPP is currently there, as is the NAIDOC exhibition. That was kind of small… which was disappointing. I’d like to see more Aboriginal work on display – there are some great artists in the Blue Mountains and surrounds.
Here’s a few shots. Enjoy.
The new library is fabulous and filled with touchy feely textiles and art pieces… If you haven’t been yet, it’s well worth a visit and should be on your ‘things to do’ list for the Blue Mountains.
Check out my other architectural shots in the gallery.
